Refurbishment to a 16th Century Cottage
This cottage dates back to 1570 and suffered extensive water damage after a water main burst nearby.
The client had communicated an aspiration to integrate modern living while keeping some of the cottages traditional features.
The property was constructed in an era when horsehair was mixed in with the plaster. Although rare, we recognised the necessity to take a sample of the horsehair and lime and send this off to a specialist (Porton Down) to test for anthrax.
